To Our Community Members:

Welcome to Windham Community Memorial Hospital, a 130-bed, not-for-profit acute care community hospital providing state of the art comprehensive medical services, personalized attention and care. Our hospital seeks to meet the total healthcare needs of people from throughout our 19-town service area in eastern Connecticut.

Our staff of 100 physicians, representing most major specialties - nearly all of whom are board certified - work together with the hospital's dedicated staff of professionals to deliver the latest in technology and medical science in a warm, friendly and personalized environment. Our hospital is committed to Family-Centered Care and as such, the patient and his or her family members are at the core of our focus. We believe that this focus distinguishes us and helps to create a better experience for all who receive care here.

Our areas of clinical expertise range from surgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, critical care, hematology/oncology, pulmonary medicine and sleep medicine to obstetrics and pediatrics. Our radiology services include the latest in technology ranging from full time onsite MRI, CT scanning and the full complement of other diagnostic capabilities along with a mobile PET scanning service, the most advanced and sophisticated technology available to aid in cancer diagnosis. Additionally, we offer a full service laboratory, programs in rehabilitation: physical, occupational and speech therapy, an American Diabetes Association accredited diabetes program, a sleep disorder studies program and medical social work. Other programs include senior wellness, a school-based health center, cardiac rehabilitation, a women's diagnostic center, mobile lithotripsy for quick and pain-free treatment of kidney stones, 24-hour emergency services, and paramedic intercept program. We feature a variety of other community-based programs.

In addition, satellite facilities are conveniently dispersed throughout our service area to enhance access to care and to provide convenience for patients requiring ambulatory care and related diagnostic and therapeutic services. Med-East Medical Walk In Center is located at Gateway Commons, 1703 West Main Street, in Willimantic and Meetinghouse Square, 200 Merrow Road, in Tolland provides urgent care and occupational health services. These services are available seven days a week at convenient hours to provide economical care as well as to meet the needs of employers from throughout our area for work-related health services. Physical therapy services are available adjacent to that facility and are likewise available for faculty, students and staff at the University of Connecticut on their Storrs campus. A mammography center is located in Mansfield on Route 195 to provide for women's needs in a private and comfortable setting.

Our commitment to excellence in community healthcare is more than just a statement. Our staff, medical staff, board members, and Corporators, along with volunteers and auxilians, are devoted to our community and to high quality, economical health care. This devotion is reflected in the high patient satisfaction results we receive from our patients as well as from accrediting bodies, such as the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Most importantly, our staff members make a real difference. Nurses, technicians, professional allied health and support personnel who are competent, compassionate, and caring look forward to serving you. We look forward to working with you to promote, maintain, or restore health for you and your family.

I encourage you to visit the rest of our website and to seek more information on the many vital healthcare, community and educational services we provide. Please feel free to contact us. We will do our very best to assist you. We are indeed devoted to "excellence in community healthcare."
