Arthur Brodeur Elected Chairman of Hospital Board
WILLIMANTIC, CT, January 30, 2008 – Eastford resident Arthur Brodeur has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for Windham Community Memorial Hospital. At its Annual Meeting in January, the Board nominated and elected Brodeur, a long-standing board member at Windham Hospital and Chairman of the Hospital’s Planning Committee. Brodeur recently served as a member of the Governor’s Strategic Task Force on Hospitals in our state, joining the cadre of state agency commissioners, legislators, industry representatives, and labor leaders who comprised the Task Force.
“Art has devoted years of service to the hospital, as a Board member and member of the Strategic Planning Committee, and we are honored that a man of such distinction—both locally and at the state level—will Chair our Board of Directors,” commented Richard A. Brvenik, CEO and President of the Hospital.
In his remarks to the group, Brodeur thanked the Hospital Board and the members of the Hospital community for their confidence in his abilities, and pledged two years of concerted and constructive effort on behalf of the Hospital. He concluded by saying, “We face many challenges but there are many opportunities as well. We will take advantage of the opportunities and attack the challenges, building on our progress to enhance access to, and continually improve the quality of the care which the citizens of 19 communities rely upon us to provide.”
In addition to serving on the Windham Hospital Board of Directors, Brodeur served as First Selectmen in the town of Eastford from 2003 through 2005. He retired from the University of Connecticut in 2000, where he had served as Special Assistant to the Chancellor, the culmination of some 40 years of higher education management and public communications experience. Previous positions included positions at Ohio State University, Northeastern University, Cornell, and United Press International. Brodeur attended Holyoke Community College, and is a graduate of Holy Cross, a former Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, and a long-term member of the Education Writers Association. He and his wife Lennox have three grown children. |
