Big Y Paul H. D’Amour Memorial Charity Golf Outing Committee Donates $5,000 to Windham Hospital’s Oncology Program
Windham Hospital Foundation announced it has received a $5,000 donation from the Big Y Paul H. D’Amour Memorial Charity Golf Outing Committee to be used for Windham Hospital’s Oncology Program.
For several years, Windham Hospital has partnered with Oncology Associates, PC, of Hartford to meet the needs of its patients in the delivery of cancer treatment. Shawn Maynard, Executive Director of the Windham Hospital Foundation notes, “Without this partnership, our patients would have to travel to Hartford or other locations which are inconvenient for them. Our oncology program is a valuable asset to our community and our cancer patients are very grateful to receive oncology services locally.”
Big Y holds a strong commitment to the communities that it serves. In its 76-year history, Big Y has been involved in many educational, family, health, and hunger related charities, in order to improve the quality of life in southern New England.
Donald H. D'Amour, Chairman and CEO of Big Y states that "All of us at Big Y are proud to partner with our communities in many ways, including our annual golf outing. This year, we have been able to support 22 charitable organizations throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut."
“On behalf of the patients we serve, we thank Big Y Foods, Inc. for caring about our community’s health and well-being. Without the support of generous organizations such as Big Y, we would not be able to continue our work helping people to live healthier lives,” Maynard said.
Windham Hospital, founded in 1933, is a non-profit, acute-care community hospital serving 19 eastern Connecticut towns. It has 131 beds, conducts nearly 4,000 surgeries annually, and its emergency department has been ranked among the top 1 percent of hospitals nationwide for patient satisfaction.
