Three Community Leaders Join Windham Hospital Foundation Board
The Windham Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of three community leaders to the roster of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees: George Hernández and Dianne Doyle of Willimantic; and Betsy Paterson of Mansfield.

“Each of these individuals has expressed their desire to help the Foundation achieve its mission and we are delighted to welcome them onto the Board,” noted Foundation Board Chair, Carol J. Williams. “With their breadth of experience, and the outstanding individuals who have been serving on the board for a number of years, we are confident that we will be successful in achieving our philanthropic goals”

George Hernández, Regional Business Specialist for the Spanish-American Merchants Association has management, training and community service experience and is bi-lingual and bi-cultural. He has helped to establish several 501 (c) 3 organizations in both the U.S. and abroad and helped to raise funds for those non-profit organizations, as well. In 2009, Hernández received the Community Partner Award from Eastern CT State University during National Volunteer Week. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern CT Community Development Corporation (NCCDC) and the Northeastern CT Economic Alliance.

Dianne Doyle, Branch Manager for First Niagara Bank in Columbia, has been involved in the banking industry for the past 21 years while maintaining a strong commitment to the community. Doyle was President of the Windham Region Chamber of Commerce from 2008 to 2010, was Chairperson of the Mansfield Business and Professional Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the Mansfield Downtown Partnership and a member of the Hebron Business and Professional Association in recent years. She received the Windham Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year award in 2004 and 2005. Additionally, she was Chairperson of the Chamber’s Fundraising and Events Committee for four years.

Betsy Paterson currently chairs the Mansfield Town Council as Mayor of Mansfield. She recently retired from the University of Connecticut, and has held numerous leadership positions within the town and state, as well as at the national level. Paterson currently serves as an Executive Board Member on the Mansfield Downtown Partnership, and chairs the Town of Mansfield Emergency Management Committee and Eastern Highlands Health District. She has served on numerous other committees to enhance the relationship between the Town of Mansfield and the University of Connecticut. Paterson also serves on the Windham Regional Council of Governments, the CT Conference of Municipalities, a Legislative Task Force on Municipal Funding and on the Advisory Board of the National League of Cities.

The Windham Hospital Foundation currently has 11 community members serving on the Board with three ex-officio members representing the hospital. The mission of the Foundation is to build a bridge between the community and the hospital to develop the resources to support the hospital in meeting the health care needs of the community.
