Windham Hospital Celebrates the Opening of a New Physical Therapy Office in Storrs
New facility offers convenience, high-quality physical and occupational therapy

Windham Hospital celebrated the dedication of its newly renamed and expanded physical medicine facilities at a community open house on Thursday evening at its new Storrs location. “We are now known as Windham Hospital Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation,” said Director of Physical Medicine Brian Cawley. “We feel the change of name will make it clear to everyone that we are a part of Windham Hospital, and with the additional offices, we can expand our services while retaining our culture of excellence in a new state-of-the-art facility.” He concluded, “Of course, we want to continue to be ‘first choice’ for patients who need therapy services—young people with sports injuries, people with post-surgical or post-stroke requirements, people at risk for falls, and now for the first time, people who need hand therapy. To remain their first choice, we are committed to operating both clinics—in Storrs and in Willimantic—as premier physical medicine facilities, where compassionate professionals offer their patients unparalleled care, quality, and service.”

Dr. Eugene Winchester, Windham Hospital Chief of Staff and an emergency physician, commented that “this wonderful new facility provides exceptional high-quality and customer-focused service, whether the need is medical or surgical, and offers these comprehensive services in an attractive and convenient location. It is a great addition to the Mansfield area.”
Hospital President and CEO Dick Brvenik commented, “This is yet another area where our partnership with Hartford Healthcare provides us with added depth and access to resources. We can now draw on an expanded pool of highly qualified clinicians and provide enhanced clinical programming, including bringing a certified hand physical therapist to our staff.”
Windham Hospital Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation was previously known as First Choice Rehab & Sports Medicine, and operated a clinic on West Main Street in Willimantic. The Willimantic clinic has also adopted the new name, and will continue to provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to patients in the region.
Windham Hospital Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation is a service of Windham Hospital, accepts most insurance, and offers extended service hours. Windham Hospital is a proud member of Hartford Healthcare, Connecticut’s premier healthcare provider. Additional information may be obtained on the Hospital’s website at www.windhamhospital.org/pt.
