Family & Friends
In order to best serve families and friends and ensure the safety of our patients, we ask that all visitors enter through the Shea Building (Atrium) and stop at the Information Desk for room location, directions or special instructions. If you need to enter after 8pm and before 5:30 am, please enter through the Emergency Department.
Hospital Visiting Hours
General: noon – 8pm
Maternity: noon - 8 pm
Critical Care Unit 24 hour (2 visitors at a time)
Ambulatory Care Unit 7 am – 7pm (those accompanying patient)
Please be considerate of your loved one and any roommates. Spending time with your loved one is important and aids in healing. Rest is equally important and may be hard for someone to do with a constant flow of visitors even when visits are short. Coordinate with friends and family to allow rest periods. The health care team may limit the ages or numbers of visitors to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all.
Controlling infection is everyone’s responsibility. Wash hands before entering and upon leaving a patient’s room by using sink or hand sanitizers located near the doorway. Please follow any special instructions placed outside the patient’s room and wear appropriate protection. This protection is for you as well as others you may come in contact with after leaving the room.

While you're visiting...
Meals and Snacks are available in the Cafeteria and Coffee Shop, and vending machines are located in waiting areas. Unique Gifts, cards, fresh flowers, candy and personal care items can be purchased in the Auxiliary Gift Shop. Gift certificates for massage can be purchased here as well. There is a 24 hour ATM located in Atrium.

Other Services
The Whitham Family Lounge is a room with overnight accommodations for family members of acutely ill patients who choose to stay within the hospital. Reservations and use of this room may be requested by contacting the Administrative Coordinator at 942-5050 or call the hospital operator and ask to speak with the Administrative Coordinator.
The Community Health Resource Center is available between the hours of 6 AM and 10 PM and is located in the 2nd floor corridor between Greer and Ambulatory Care. Health education materials and health internet sites are available to you as you navigate through a health care crisis or just to peruse while waiting for someone in the hospital. If you require assistance while using these resources, contact information is listed in the resource center.
Integrative Health Services are available in the Community Health Resource Center and in the care units. Integrative Health Services include massage, reiki, acupuncture, yoga and meditation. Description of services as well as contact information can be found in the Resource Center, online at www.windhamhospital.org or by calling 860.456.6002. Gift certificates for these services may be purchased in the hospital gift shop. |
