Free Lecture at Windham Hospital Showcases “Healthy Eating: Refined to Real Food”

The free monthly health lecture hosted by Integrative Health Services at Windham Hospital focuses this month on healthy eating, with a presentation by Michele Maclure, culinary herbalist, and Lisa Viele, holistic nutrition consultant, entitled, “Refined to Real Food.” The event is slated for Wednesday, July 27 at 7 PM in the Hospital’s Education Center.

In the course of the evening, Michele will demonstrate the fine art of cooking with fresh ingredients and herbs, while Lisa will delve into the nutritional aspects of these foods. Participants will be invited to taste farm-fresh/garden-fresh goodies and learn easy ways to prepare real, fresh foods that the whole family will enjoy.

Michele and Lisa both say they are “true enthusiasts when it comes to healthy eating.” Michele is a noted area herbalist, while Lisa has just completed her Masters degree in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health. Both work with people to help improve their health and quality of life by providing educational information about healthy foods. Michele adds that the only thing she “loves more than cooking with real food is the opportunity to share that love with others.”

The July 27th event is one of a series of free lectures hosted by the Integrative Health Services Department at Windham Hospital. Future programs in the nine-part series include “Tai Chi” on September 28; “Flower Essences” on October 26, and “Mind-Body Connections to Stress” on November 30.
