Free Integrative Health Lecture Series Continues at Windham Hospital
WILLIMANTIC, CT – May 15, 2008 – The Integrative Health Steering Committee at Windham Hospital hosts “For the Health of It,” a Wednesday evening lecture series, each month. The May event, presented by Edie Jemiola, is “Sound Healing.” It will take place on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, from 7 – 9 pm in the Hospital’s Hatch Day Room.
Advocates of Sound Healing say that it is a perfect stress reduction and relaxation technique. Sound Healing employs voice and quartz crystal bowls to help reestablish physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The Wednesday evening lecture will include a brief discussion of what sound healing is, demonstrate actual sound healing, and then provide some quiet time allowing the sound to integrate into the body. Attendees should bring a mat, blanket and pillow if they wish to lie down.
Edie Jemiola is an Integrative Medicine Consultant at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT; Usui & Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher, certified Holographic Sound Healing Teacher/Practitioner, Melchizedek Method and Magnified Healing instructor. Edie recently completed study with world-renowned instructor Tom Kenyon, in the area of sound healing and acoustic brain research. Edie is also a hospice volunteer. She studied different complimentary healing modalities to heal herself after the loss of her oldest son in 1988. She loves to share healing and teach others that are in pain and seeking relief. Edie has a private practice in Willington where she combines Sound Healing, Reiki, Crystals, Guided Visualization and other healing modalities in her practice.
The Lecture Series is a service of the Integrative Health Service at Windham Hospital. Other offerings include therapeutic massage, Reiki, acupuncture, yoga, meditation, nutritional counseling, and the free Community Health Resource Room at Windham Hospital.
