TriCounty Vision Promotion to Benefit Hospital Cancer Fund
WILLIMANTIC, CT- October 14, 2008. TriCounty Vision Associates in Willimantic will be donating 25% of the proceeds of select sunglass sales to the Cancer Fund at Windham Hospital. This month long promotion is an opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer along with other activities such as the Windham Relay for Life, which takes place on October 18 - 19 at the Eastern Connecticut State University Sports Complex. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s nationwide signature event. The overnight event raises money and awareness while serving as a celebration for cancer survivors, a memorial for loved ones lost, and a rally for the community.
Tri County Vision wanted to help in a more direct way by offering financial assistance to patients who cannot afford to pay for their cancer treatment. “It’s so important for patients to get the care they need and deserve regardless if they have medical insurance, “commented Beth Schramm, O.D. Dr. Schramm and her husband, Sean McKeown, O.D. provide comprehensive eye exams, diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and a wide selection of the latest frames at their offices on Walnut Street.
“We are delighted that TriCounty Vision Associates has selected Windham Hospital’s Cancer Fund as the recipient of this special promotion,” noted Mona Friedland, Executive Director, Windham Hospital Foundation. “We want people to know that Windham Hospital provides a range of cancer related services to our community including diagnostic testing, treatment and support groups. Oncology Associates of Hartford are on-site five days a week and our recently renovated Hatch Wing houses services such as pain management, alternative therapies, such as Reiki, acupuncture and massage, and other supportive services to make our patient’s journey as easy as possible.”
