Windham Hospital Imposing Visitor Restrictions Beginning Monday, Nov 2nd

WILLIMANTIC, CT, October 30, 2009– Windham Hospital is amending visitation processes because of the seriousness of the H1N1 flu outbreak. Beginning Monday, November 2nd and until further notice, no one under the age of 18 will be allowed to visit. There will also be a limit on patient visitors to just two healthy adults at a time.

“We are taking these steps to protect our patients, our staff and the community, said Cary Trantalis, RN, Vice President of Patient Care. “This includes our emergency department, and both inpatient and outpatient areas of the hospital.”

Infectious Disease Control Director, Dr. Clifford Stirba, said, “The steps are necessary because of the increase in the number of patients with respiratory infections presenting at the hospital, and the rise in the number of H1N1 cases in our community.”

Notices will be posted at each of the four entrances to the hospital and information is posted and updated on the hospital website at www.windhamhospital.org.
