Windham Hospital Celebrates the Opening of the Center for Women’s Health at Mansfield
New facility combines state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and integrative health services in a comfortable, convenient setting

Windham Hospital celebrated the dedication of its newly renamed and expanded women’s diagnostic imaging services at a community open house on Thursday evening at its new Mansfield location. Hospital President and CEO Dick Brvenik commented, “This marvelous and beautiful new facility offers state-of-the-art diagnostic services performed by an exceptional group of staff members who collaborate with the physicians of Jefferson Radiology in providing digital mammography and bone densitometry. We are delighted to open the doors to this Center for Women’s Health, and know that it will serve our region very well.”

The Center for Women’s Health at Mansfield was previously known as Windham Mammography, and was located on Route 195 in Mansfield. The new location at 7A Ledgebrook Drive (immediately behind the East Brook Mall) will continue to provide digital mammography services, and has added bone densitometry and integrative health services at the new site. Dr. Ethan Foxman, President and CEO of Jefferson Radiology and former Chief of Radiology for Windham Hospital, was on hand for the ceremony, remarking that the “opening of this new facility is due, in large measure, to the hospital administration’s dedication to a remarkable vision for excellence in diagnostic imaging. This is an exciting day for patients in the region,” Dr. Foxman continued. “This facility will literally save hundreds of lives by allowing the early detection and treatment of breast cancer and osteoporosis.”

Mary Horan, Director of Family-Centered Care at Windham Hospital and long-time proponent of integrative health services, concurred, adding that “the opening of this wonderful new center coincides with the tenth anniversary of integrative health services at Windham Hospital, and expands our massage and reiki services out into the community in complement to the essential diagnostics offered here.” On hand for the opening were several massage therapists, who offered chair massages to those in attendance, and Anne Buchalski, LMT, who performed a “ceremonial opening” of the space using the resonant sounds of some large crystal bowls.

Cary Trantalis, Vice President of Patient Services at Windham Hospital, commented, “Based on feedback from our patients, we created this new space to offer this professional and soothing environment for the promotion of women’s health in our community. We wanted to create a private, comfortable, calming environment that could be easily accessed for women from our region, and I believe that this facility more than accomplishes that goal.”
