Early detection is a woman's best defense. Windham Hospital provides a variety of diagnostic services that allow accurate diagnosis, including digital mammography. The Hologic Selenia Digital Mammography System offers better detection through better imaging. Exceptionally sharp images give physicians and their patients the information needed for diagnosis and discussion, and the physicians from Jefferson Radiology interpret results both on-site at Windham Hospital and in their remote offices, when additional consultation is required.

Visiting the New FamilyPost-Partum
During the hospital stay, both Mom and Baby need time to bond, learn, rest, and recover. You can help make this an easier process for them by observing the visiting policy below, which was created to optimize our patients’ care and comfort.
Family-Conscious Visiting Policy
There are several stages in the Maternity Unit experience. With the mothers’ permission, a support person may stay throughout labor, delivery, and recovery.
Labor/Preparation for C-Section
Laboring women or women admitted to the hospital for a C-section may have up to three support people in the room during labor or preparation. During this phase, the atmosphere around the mother is kept as calm and quiet as possible.
One support person may be in the operating room during the delivery.
Immediately after birth, the infant is dried and placed skin-to-skin with the mother. This helps the newborn baby stabilize and begin bonding.
The first hour following delivery is devoted to recovery. If needed, this time may be extended to permit optimum recovery. Skin-to-skin contact between Mom and Baby is maintained when possible. Mothers are encouraged to breast feed or bottle feed Baby as soon as they are able.
This is the remainder of the time Mom and Baby are in the hospital. Mothers are encouraged to have their babies “room in” with them. This rooming in helps Mom and Baby learn each others’ rhythms and cues. The visiting policy during this time is as follows:
May come to the unit at any time. One person may stay overnight in the new mother’s room.
Grandparents/Siblings of the New Baby
May come in any time after delivery and recovery. Any sibling under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult, other than the patient, at all times.
All other family and friends
Visiting hours are from 12 noon to 8 pm.
Please contact the patient before you arrive at the hospital, to make sure your visit is enjoyable for all. We limit the number of visitors to four people at a time, in addition to the support person. All others are welcome to wait in the Atrium/Main lobby. Children under 12 years of age are not allowed in the Maternity Unit unless they are siblings of the newborn baby.
